Don’t follow this bike – See Atila on his journey around New Zealand using a Carry Freedom Surf Trailer. In this video he explains why and shows the equipment he is using, including the Y surf. Most of his videos are in Spanish, but this one does have sub-titles. But the videos are very entertaining for non-Spanish speakers. Atila is halfway through his 10,000 kilometer journey and still going strong! And he hasn’t broken the trailer yet, despite it falling into the river in one of the last episodes ;>)
Although the Y has been around for a few years now and has sold throughout the world, we have always been very conscious of the tests and the certifications in the bike industry. For a long time load trailers were tested as passenger trailers. Now there is special EN Test for luggage carrying trailers for bicycles. The renowned German testing agency velotech.de was picked to do the testing.
The Taipei Cycle Show is a regular trip for us each year. We go to visit our manufacturer in Taichung and then we return to Taipei for the show. Usually there are many friends there and we are able to do some good business. This time was no exception. Bob went alone this year, his pals Debra from Rivet Saddles in Sacramento was recovering from a car accident and Richard from Melbourne was moving warehouse, Daniela stayed at home because someone has to work. Everything´s getting faster and faster nowadays. This project was an experiment to slow down living, or rather try to find a way of going slowly and to experience travelling to the fullest. By bike from the southern part of Austria to the mediterranean sea like Liguria and Sardegna was the first part of this adventure. Another very important goal was to catch up with local people, to immerse deeper into the local culture and to find waves in a country which isn´t that famous for surfing.
“We’ve got to stop once in a while and let our spirit catch up.”

The LEAF: Check out this first view of the LEAF. The LEAF is the new foldable city travel trailer from Carry Freedom. The first show was at the Eurobike 2014. Nick got the sample made at the last minute. The film was made on the USED stand. Starring designer Nick Lobnitz. The subtitles should be read with a strong Scottish accent ;>)

We got a mail from David Wright. He was on the road with Cornelius Muller, a South African mountain bike rider and a fantastic photographer. They travelled together in South Africa and this great photograph was taken.

The picture you can see here is from the Trans-Ost-Expedition, with Tanya and Denis Katzer. The question we are asking here is…will a Carry Freedom trailer take me there and back? We’ve had many trailers go around the world. Many thousands of kilometers in wild conditions gives us a good idea of what will happen and where problems could appear. The list is long which does not mean that all this will happen on a long trip, we are just exploring all the possibilities.
The experts at the Danish Cyclists Federation organized and oversaw, on behalf of the EU project, Cyclelogistics and the European Cyclists’ Federation, a thorough test of load trailers. The tests were carried out over a period of five days by five experienced persons or small companies who bike daily and are trained to review cycling products. They were simply told to let the item become a regular part of their daily routine. They then gave each trailer a score out of five stars with five stars being the best
Our friends Tanja and Denis Katzer are adventurers on a great journey. Starting in Germany, they are traveling to Burma via Mongolia und China on two Riese and Müller bikes which are both equipped with Carry Freedom Y-Frame trailers. Denis pulls a Y-Frame large with a big Zarges box carrying all his electronic equipment and Tanja is pulling a Y-Frame small with an Ortlieb Rack Pack. These are great photos and show a true spirit of adventure and provide another perspective on a world slowly disappearing.
